Submissions are divided into two categories for judging: Senior (9th - 12th Grade) and Junior (8th grade and below).The 2015 judging committee was made up of NRA Assistant General Counsel Skipp Galythly, NRA Assistant General Counsel Morgan Shields, Paralegal Emily Freeman, and Paralegal Steven Brantley.Submit your application by May 1 each year for consideration.

This past year’s contest received 580 essays answering the question, “What does the Second Amendment mean to you?

” The goal of the contest is to engage students in scholarly research about the Second Amendment as well as reflect on how the Second Amendment and other Constitutional rights affect their daily lives.

” Students from across the United States were eager to answer this question in a personal, yet fact-based manner and then cross their fingers in hopes of being a Youth Essay Contest winner.

The contest was open to all students who were enrolled in elementary, junior high or high school for the 2014-2015 school year.

Students from kindergarten to senior year of high school are encouraged to submit a writing sample to a competitive and thought-provoking contest.

The theme for the 2015 essay submission was, “What Does the Second Amendment Mean to You?Beginning in 2018, the Summit will be adding a second session to its National program!To be considered, submit your application, high school transcript, three-page essay on the Second Amendment, one-page personal statements, and three letters of recommendation. Youth Wildlife Art Contest The annual Youth Wildlife Art Contest is open to students in grades 1 through 12 (including home-schooled children). The National Rifle Association and its affiliated charities, The NRA Foundation and the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund, proudly recognize and reward outstanding individuals each year for their dedication to the promotion of the Second Amendment, involvement in the shooting sports, and public service among other extraordinary qualities. There’s still time to apply for some incredible opportunities this year but deadlines are quickly approaching – don’t miss out!Being awarded creates eligibility for National prizes contributed by Brownells.First, second, and third place winners receive ,000, ,000, and ,000 respectively.Artwork must portray any North American game bird or animal that may be legally hunted or trapped. Contestants are limited to one entry each and may be in a medium of the artist’s choice (oil, water color, pastels, pencil, pen and ink, charcoal, etc.).First, second and third place winners will be selected for each category and will be awarded 0, 0, 0 respectively.Applications must be postmarked by June 1 each year.
