However it wasn't until 2010, in the 100th anniversary year of Twain's death, that the first volume of a comprehensive collection, compiled and edited by The Mark Twain Project of The Bancroft Library at University of California, Berkeley, was published.

Twain first started to compose an autobiography in 1870, but proceeded fitfully, abandoning the work and returning to it as the mood took him, amassing around 30-40 of these "false starts" over the next 35 years.

Twain then seems to have let the book languish; in 1908-9 he hardly added to it at all, and he declared the project concluded in 1909, after the death of his youngest daughter Jean.

His innovative notion — to “talk only about the thing which interests you for the moment” — meant that his thoughts could range freely.

The much-delayed publication of the latter was due to objections from Clara Clemens.

Two publications were made from re-arrangements of previously published work. Then follows Twain's early, fragmentary attempts at writing it; and the text of his autobiographical dictations (the main series), beginning on 10 January 1906. The third and final volume of the Mark Twain Project edition was published in October 2015.It contains 792 pages with entries dated from 1 March 1907 to 21 October 1909.It was compiled by personal friend and literary executor Albert Bigelow Paine, who at the time had exclusive access to Twain's papers.Editor and historian Bernard De Voto succeeded Paine as literary executor for the Clemens estate, and used his access to the material to produce four book collections of Autobiography material: Mark Twain in Eruption (1940), The Portable Mark Twain (1946), Mark Twain at Work (1952), and Letters from the Earth (1962).When you're first learning to write as a student, it can seem overwhelming that there are so many things you need to know and so few things with which you have any real experience.Who better to guide you through your growing pains when it comes to learning how to write than one of the literary greats, Mark Twain? The Autobiography of Mark Twain refers to a lengthy set of reminiscences, dictated, for the most part, in the last few years of American author Mark Twain's life and left in typescript and manuscript at his death. The Autobiography comprises a rambling collection of anecdotes and ruminations rather than a conventional autobiography.Jenerally, then, the improvement would kontinue iear bai iear with Iear 5 doing awai with useless double konsonants, and Iears 6-12 or so modifaiing vowlz and the rimeining voist and unvoist konsonants. And of course, the other meaning of twain that might be mentioned is its use as an acronym in computers, standing for "Technology Without An Interesting Name"." Here is the description of the boat travel origin Scott referred to: When the leadsman's line sank to the two--fathom knot, meaning the boat had a safe twelve feet of water beneath it, he called out, "By the mark, twain! Bai Iear 15 or sou, it wud fainali bi posibl tu meik ius ov thi ridandant letez "c", "y" and "x" -- bai now jast a memori in the maindz ov ould doderez -- tu riplais "ch", "sh", and "th" rispektivli. Note 2: Mark Twain is not related to Shania Twain, unless her name is also a pseudonym and her real family name is Clemens.
