He is a man that is able to fend for, and is not dependant on anyone but himself.

George may not be as strong as Lennie, but Lennie isn't as intelligent as George.

When it came down to the wire, it is proven that George and Lennie had no ordinary friendship.

George knew what he had to do, although it would hurt him, because he knew it was best for his friend.

This was not an easy task for George to do, but he knew he had to do it.

But, he did not do this in a cold blooded murder, but he allowed Lennie to get into a happy zone before he shot the trigger.Candy shows that companionship and hope are necessary to survive.His best friend and lifelong companion were his sheep dog.Through all the hardships that they've been through, they still managed to pull through it all, that is, until it came to the very end.
